Dozens of boutiques and fashion designing companies lining up from Bagmati bridge to Himalayan Hotel in Kupandol was enough to indicate that fashion has already grown up as an entrepreneurship in Kathmandu. Youth have started to see a good prospect in fashion as entrepreneurship. Fifteen students have been taking classes in National Institute of Art and Fashion Designing Kupandol.The institute has been offering varieties of courses that generally range from one year to three years. According to fashion designer Tamanna Shrestha, the transaction stands at Rs. 50 thousands to Rs 1.5 Lakh which can be considered a middling business.India Education Center, Namuna College of Fashion Technology, Lakhotia Institute of Fashion Designing and Lord Buddha Education Foundation are some of the institute offering fashion education in Nepal. The scene in the Nepali fashion industry is not quite bleak indeed. Fashion boutiques are growing in Kathmandu and in other cities like Dharan, Pokhara, Butwal, and Biratnagar, too.

Skirts, which are believed to have developed in the 18th century, are also getting good responses in Nepali fashion market. Skirt is the favorite apparel for women with slender waists and wide hips. Not only during summer, there are some women who like to wear skirts even during freezing winter days. Manisha Thapa is one such women who was recently heard sharing her friends how her college administration had prohibited the use of skirts during the winter days. "I won't have joined that college had I known earlier that it prohibits girls from wearing skirts during winter," she told her friends.There are different types of skirts available in Nepali market. According to Tamanna Shrestha of Metro Designers' Nest, the use of skirt is increasing because it is comfortable, cool, easy, attractive and fashionable. Flair, gather, pleated and balloon skirts are popular among Nepali women. "Nepali women select skirts as per their body structure. While slender girls look great in gather and box skirts, lining and fitting skirts suit chubby girls," Tamanna informed.According to her, the price of the skirt depends on the kind you wish to own. Generally, the price ranges from Rs. three hundred to five thousands in the market. Skirt has enchanted actress Rekha Thapa. She has declared she would be wearing skirt till she was at 60. Wearing skirt has been a part of their lives among young girls. Wearing skirts is meant to be sexy, bold and cool, they feel. Even boys love to see the girls in skirt around them.
